Jason DeBacker, yellowtail

I'm a Professor of Economics in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and Director of the Master of Science in Quantitative Economics program. My research focuses on tax policy, public finance, and macroeconomics, with particular interests in tax compliance, income dynamics among business owners, and the macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy. My work has appeared in journals including the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the National Tax Journal. I am also an active contributor to open-source policy models, including OG-Core, OG-USA, and the Cost-of-Capital Calculator. I founded PSL Foundation to support the Policy Simulation Library and other projects that build tools for open and transparent policy analysis. I've contributed to economic policy in positions with, or consulting for, the US Treasury Office of Tax Analysis, Internal Revenue Service, American Enterprise Institute, Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, European Commission, World Bank, and United Nations. I also serve on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Economic Policy Center.
